So, don't mind the roughness of it all, please.... That's a pencil on the other side of her, barely in view, so you get an idea of her size.
Don't look at her tushie, k? See my deck in the backround (but don't look), it's STILL RAINING.... (fuck).
Don't look at my dog; anonymity and all (isn't he cute? but... don't look).
I think she, the sculpture now, is sweet the way one foot is pointed and one is flexed; she is sexy and playful.
mantra: beautiful dirt

9 beings spoke up here;:
wow,that's beautiful.
I like your doggy and your lady's bum.
I love the look of her! (And the dog that I did not see whats really into your art as well! and cute too!)
unemployment never looked so damn good!
okay i am going to geek out here.... and yes your puppers is so cute.... i looked, can't help, i love dogs so much.
Okay here's my geeking time:
what makes you make these sensual women? Are they you? are they what you want to be? Is there ever ugly or upset women? or are they always in a state of personal happiness? I ask only cause of the few pieces i have seen. I urge you to look at Egon Schiele and Lucien Frued. I am curious as to your reactions to their women..... OH and of course check out Ron Mueck.
other than that i like your work... I want bigger. But that is what i used to get people saying about my stuff too.....
Hey SA- I couldn't reply to you personaly so hopefully you will check back here. It is an interesting question, I am glad you asked.
I checked out the artists you mentioned... I love their work. One of my favorite sculptors is Beth Cavener Sticher, amazing, amazing stuff. I love raw images that other artist do. If I could afford real art, that is what I would hang in my house. I don't know why I only do sensual women, other than I find it so beautiful.
I wouldn't consider myself an 'artist' in the (now ima gonna geek out) the real artist kind of way. I am not schooled and can only seem to do what shows up in my head. I would love to do some gritty raw images... I certainly feel them. They have just never shown up like these women do.
I don't think they are me, but I think they represent something I am longing to feel more strong about... my sensual beauty.
I hear you on the bigger. After this peice (and maybe one other) I do want to try and go.. BIGger. However, I'm sensing it's a yoga pose...? I dunno yet.
When I can translate the raw grit that it is in me, in art... then I will feel more of an artist artist. For now I am more of a conduit.
This one, by the way, is a commissioned piece for a friend; a wedding gift for her husband
Ps: I envy 'real' artists
Absolutely beautiful!
Okay, first and foremost.... You are a "Real" artist. Schooling doesn't make one and artist. If you are sharing visual pieces with the world... then you are a "real" artist. There are many artists in the world that are self taught. I went to school for it, had to sit through critics and all that. But that doesn't make me more of a real artist than you. You are making art for the love of it. So to me you are as real as me!
I say go for bigger and grittier. Go with your gut. You have the talent to create the figure, which by the way I SOOOO can't do, so play with it! That is my challenge to you. And i will attach my email for follow ups so you can banter back and forth. :)
